Wind Effect Text
.) Open up a blank document in photoshop, 400x400 will do.
.) Change font colour to black, and font face to Impact, or something of a similar effect. Make the text about 100pt.
.) Centre the text so that there is enough space either side for the effect to work.
.) On the right hand side you should see the 'Layers' panel. If not, go to 'Window' and select 'Layers'. Where you have the text layer, right click it and click 'Rasterize Type'
.) Now hit ' Ctrl + E and the layers should merge into each other.
.) Now go to 'Image', then 'Adjustments' and hit 'Invert'.
.) Now the fun part... Go to 'Filter' >> 'Blur' >> 'Gaussian Blur'. Set the blur to about 2.0 and hit OK.
.) Now go to 'Filter' again, then hit 'Stylize' and hit 'Solarize'.
.) Then go to 'Image' >> 'Adjustments' >> 'Auto-Contrast'
.) Go to 'Filter' >> 'Stylize' >> 'Wind'. Make sure the 'Method' is set to 'Wind' and is is 'From the right'. Hit ok.
.) You should now have a cool wind effect blowing from the right.
.) Now go back to 'Filter' >> 'Stylize' >> 'Wind' and set it to blow 'From the left'. Hit ok.
.) You now have a really cool wind effect! If you like you can spin it 90 degrees and have the wind blowing all directions or you can start again and maybe just have the wind blowing one way or whatever. Make of it what you will!
.) You may wish to add some colour now. So go to 'Image' >> 'Adjustments' >> 'Hue/Saturation'. Make sure you tick the little box that says 'Colorize'. Then you are free to fiddle about with the levels until you find a colour you like!
.) Try it again, without this tutorial, and maybe add your own style to it? Maybe add different effects to it.
Let us all know how you get on with it,
and if you get stuck at any part of it, give me a shout!
