When creating text areas in flash I have been using the built in scroll bar feature that Macromedia Flash has. However this is always grey with a green highlight and I would prefer to use something more custom. How can I create three seperate images for the up arrow, scroll bar and down arrow which will operate the text area?
Thanks, Curt.

well mate, i'm no flash expert, but to do this, i would make the images in photoshop, and save them as a PNG file.
open them up into flash, and then convert them to buttons.. which on rollover or on release they either activate a tween, or use actionscript to move the text area up or down.
hope this helps?

just make two button instances. Give one an instance name of scrollUp and the other on a instance name of scrollDown and give your textarea the instance name of news_txt
this.scrollDown.onPress = function() { scrollDirection = "down"; scrollText(); }; this.scrollUp.onPress = function() { scrollDirection = "up"; scrollText(); }; this.scrollUp.onRelease = function() { delete _root.onEnterFrame; }; this.scrollDown.onRelease = function() { delete _root.onEnterFrame; }; function scrollText() { _root.onEnterFrame = function() { if (scrollDirection == "up") { news_txt.scroll -= 1; } else if (scrollDirection == "down") { news_txt.scroll += 1; } }; }
